Manav Vikas Mission : ウィキペディア英語版 | Manav Vikas Mission Manav Vikas Mission (मानव विकास मिशन) (Human Development Mission) is an initiative of Government of Maharashtra to increase Human Development Index of backward districts of Maharashtra state of India. Initiative was launched in 2006, currently 125 tehsils/blocks from 22 districts come under this mission. Initiative mainly focus on income generation, health and education of rural area. Village students usually don't have facility of study at village home, initiative provides free study rooms for village students. After observation that village girls abandon their education midway because of far distance of higher school from their village, government also provides free bus service for village girls from their native village to higher school. ==Organisation and selection== Mission was established in 2006 in 25 blocks/talukas of 12 districts. In 2010 budget it was decided to implement this mission on block level instead of district level. In 2011 number of blocks were further increased to 125 from 22 districts. 2001 census was the basis for selection of blocks. Blocks were selected on the basis of two parameters, first parameter was percentage of female literacy in the block, while 2nd parameter was percentage of below poverty line families in block on the basis 2002 survey. From tentative list of 175 blocks, 125 blocks were selected.
